can you do on Paxos?
You can begin your day in one of the easy to access by car
or on foot lovely beaches of the east side or take a boat to a beach on the
west side.
Small cosy beaches, most of them covered in pebbles,
await you to choose one of them for your daily swim and promise to make you
feel totally secluded.
Deep blue crystal – clear waters surround both islands offering pure delight
to scuba diving enthousiasts and visitors simply touring the coast in one
of
the regular boat -trips. The swimming – pool like waters of the three Antipaxos
sandy beaches are absolutely stunning.
The lovely beaches and mysterious caves, the wild beauty and the strange
rock formations of the west coast, the famous Antipaxos sandy beaches make

crystal clear waters all around its unspoilt coastline and exploring the
island by boat is one of the greatest pleasures the island offers to the

on the mainland through the olive groves, visit the archeological
site of a 5th
century b.C cemetery, the venetian fort and castle
- house, explore
the beautiful surroundings of the windmills, the light –houses, the numerous
byzantine
churches, shop in the various little stores, where one can find high
quality local products
like honey, olive oil, wine, wooden carvings, unique pieces of handmade
pottery, jewllery etc.
The Paxos night life is quite lively and will surely
reward those who seek a bit of excitement.
The island's cultural events during the
summer are equally interesting. Holiday makers can choose between local festivals,
where under
the
sounds of traditional
music local wine and food are offered in abundance, plays and contemporary
Greek music concerts. The international Classical Music Festival
takes place in Gaios during the first week of September, where
a selection
of the greatest
chamber works of the 18nth, 19nth and 20th centuries are performed.
