LYCHNARIA, ANTIPAXOS ACCOMMODATION
South across the sea about one mile from Paxos lies the
tiny island of Antipaxos, just four kilometres long and two kilometres wide.
The island is owned in individual plots by Paxiot families. There are almost
one hundred houses on the island, most of them a few hundred years old and
the families who have built come here for their holidays and to cultivate grapes.
An undulating interior of hillsides, carpeted by maquis, contains small vineyards
above beaches of sand and pebbles. A network of narrow tracks lead from the
small harbour of Agrapidia up to the interior and past the occasional cottage
with gardens of fruit trees, vegetables and vineyards. The local grape produces
a rich, red and unique wine.
athways bordered by dry stone walls and wild
herbs, lead down on the east coast to the sandy beaches of Voutoumi, Mesovrika
and Vrika with their chalk-blue waters.
There exists a rare feeling of absolute peace and quiet. Antipaxos will
appeal to couplles looking for an unusual escape from even the smallest
of crowds.
There are two tavernas on each of the larger sandy beaches.
Two of them stay open at night from July to September. From Mid May spead boats
travel
between
Paxos and the Antipaxos sandy beaches every day on the hour. The trip
lasts 15 minutes.
The island is small but distances can be deceptive. In parts the tracks
are steep and uneven: good walking shoes are recommended for those who
will dare
spend their holiday on Antipaxos.
We feal Antipaxos will provide the escapists with a
rare opportunity to relax undisturbed. The sky at night will enrapture. The
memories
of absolute
peace
and quiet will remain forever. The swimming and walking will tone muscles.
But a secluded holiday on Antipaxos is for those who enjoy their partner's
company!
The two villas Violetta and Phoenica are equipped for comfort. Each
house has a freezer, tv and cd player, land lines and mobile phones,
torch,
games and
books on fauna and flora. Maid service is also available.
